Element Legends - Middle Earth: Strategy Battle Game 20/07/24
In collaboration with Drawn Combat, Element Games are pleased to announce Element Legends - MESBG.
This is a casual tournament event, largely aimed at getting together for a day to get some tournament experience, play some varied armies and generally just have a laugh on the day in a semi-competitive environment!
The Format
You will be required to bring a 550pt army of either Good or Evil, and we will be playing four games over the space of a day with scenarios selected at random from the Matched Play Guide with each round lasting 1hr30mins. Various prizes will be available for the day, including some hobby awards for armies and painting. It is worth noting that a fully painted army is not mandatory, but highly encouraged as painted miniatures add an awful lot to the game experience.
Don’t worry if you’re a newer player, as the Tournament Organising team will be on hand to answer any queries and rules clarifications you may have.

Rules
For this tournament, you will need a single 550 point Good OR Evil force, selected from the latest army books available at the time. Please send in your army lists by at least 23:59 on 13/07/24. They should be sent via Longshanks (or by email to
[email protected] if you are having problems with Longshanks, but please message us if this is the case). This is to give time to check them in advance and to draw the first-round pairings.
Please indicate on your army lists who is your leader, which factions your warbands are from and which type of army they are e.g. Green Alliance, Yellow Alliance, Red Alliance or Legendary Legion.
We will be using all of the rules from the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game rules manual. Please ensure you bring your rules manual and your army book to the event. The scenarios will be drawn randomly from The Matched Play Guide before each round begins. Games will take place on 4x4 tables and will last one hour and thirty minutes, although all players must have submitted their results via Longshanks no later than 10 minutes after time is called.
Please endeavour to have all miniatures painted and WYSIWYG compliant if possible.
Please bring a copy of your list for your opponent.
Your own trays, dice and tape measures are advised as we cannot supply these. We also recommend you bring glue in case any of your miniatures suffer a mishap over the weekend - although glue will be available to purchase.
Should a situation arise mid-game where a conflict in rules arises, we ask that players read through their rulebook first to see if they can find a solution. If there is no clear ruling in the book, we ask that players search for a mutually agreeable solution. If this is not possible then seek a judge’s ruling. The judge’s ruling is final, whether it goes your way or not. You have limited time to play your games so we will try to resolve issues as soon and as fairly as possible, this may be a ‘roll-off'.
The first-round pairings for the tournament will be randomly drawn. The tournament will use Swiss ranking. After the first game the highest scoring player will play the second highest scoring player on table one. The next highest scoring two will play each other on table two and so on down through the rankings. In the unlikely event that you are drawn against an opponent you have already played, please inform the judges and we will switch you around to find a new opponent.
Rankings will operate in a 3, 1, 0 tps system and any tie breakers will be resolved by VPs Scored, then by VP diff. If this happens to be the same, then Most Sporting votes then Best Army votes will be used.
